Overall responsibility:  Performs a variety of housekeeping services to maintain a clean and safe, sanitary environment for our guests and staff.  Visually inspects rooms and property to assist in identifying maintenance items needed.  Provides excellence on a daily basis in keeping and maintaining cleanliness throughout the property.  Guest Services Assistants will support general operations by cleaning all OI facilities and maintaining quality standards. This position is an essential employee

Key areas of responsibilities: Cleans all Option Institute facilities including participant-housing, classrooms, offices, teaching areas, dining facilities, etc.

Intensive cleaning tasks include*:

  • Remove all trash and recyclables, replace bags and clean containers
  • Clean mirrors, windows in the playroom and bathroom plus the one way mirror
  • Wipe down and disinfect all playroom furniture
  • Pick up toys, place on toy shelf, wash and disinfect
  • Remove crumbled paper, tissues, trash and wipe food area thoroughly on toy shelf
  • Replenish supplies if needed (i.e. paper towels / tissues)
  • Disinfect toilet, sink, tub and potty with bathroom cleaner
  • Vacuum entire unit
  • Perform other duties as needed

Guest Accommodations cleaning tasks include*:

  • Remove all trash and recyclables, replace bags and clean containers
  • Clean bathroom, tubs, toilets, walls and floor
  • Replenish bathroom supplies
  • Clean bedrooms to include dusting window sills, furniture and lamps
  • Make beds and vacuum
  • Clean kitchen counters, dishes, refrigerator, microwave, walls, sink and floor
  • Dust, vacuum and sweep common areas plus clean windows
  • Perform other duties as needed

Office cleaning tasks include*:

  • Remove all trash and recyclables, replace bags and clean containers
  • Replenish paper products and cleaning supplies as needed
  • Clean Bathroom to include toilets, walls and floor
  • Clean kitchen counters, walls, sink and floor
  • Dust, vacuum and sweep common areas plus clean windows
  • Perform other duties as needed

Classroom cleaning tasks include:

  • Remove all trash and recyclables, replace bags and clean containers
  • Dust, vacuum and sweep common areas plus clean windows
  • Dust cobwebs, window sills and light fixtures
  • Maintain and clean back jacks, using lint brush as needed, and remove if broken or bent
  • Wash blankets and fold
  • Setup and reset classroom per seating charts by class
  • Performs other duties as needed

Entrance and Outside Area cleaning tasks include*:

  • Sweep porch and steps plus clear away any and all cobwebs
  • Wipe down and wash windows on entrance doors
  • Wipe down shoe shelves with a damp cloth
  • Sweep and mop entrance floor
  • Vacuum door mats
  • Dust all pictures and remove all cobwebs
  • Performs other duties as needed

Dining Facilities cleaning tasks include*:

  • Disinfect and wipe down all tables
  • Disinfect and wipe down chairs
  • Vacuum entire room to include corners and along wall
  • Dust window sills and piano area to include cobwebs
  • Wipe down food line and sweep floor and mop if needed
  • Wipe down drink area
  • Performs other duties as needed

Seasonal Property Related Tasks*:

Winter Season – Perform shoveling and other snow or ice removal tasks
Work overtime as directed to clear pathways, driveways, decks, etc.

Summer Season – Mucking the pond required by State of Massachusetts

Qualifications
:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1 year cleaning experience
  • Weekend work is required during in person programs
